The I'm Good story
I created the business To help support mental fitness and a higher consciousness of well being through stories and apparel.
I learned at an early age that there were only 2 things in my life I had total control over, my attitude and my response to situations or people. Over the years I adopted a mindset that has fostered my mental fitness. I found that rough times in my life prepared me for future events that were similar and made them alot more manageable. So no matter how things were going In my life or how I felt I would always say "I'm Good". Because I realized that Learning the lessons from times of adversity and having a positive outlook on the outcome of situations strengthen me.
The I'm Good Turtle came about 10 years ago when my niece questioned whether I was truly good one day and I explained to her what my "I'm Good" means. My niece was around 9 or 10 years old so when I explained this to her I used the upside down Turtle analogy. I told her when I was young I used to see alot of sand turtles by the house. One day I found one upside down and as I approached to flip it over the Turtle flipped itself over and scurried away. I told her I'm just like the Turtle I might look like I'm going through something and need help but I'm Good I can handle it. A few years after our talk I drew the upside down Turtle with its thumb up and had it illustrated by a friend of my niece. I initially had patches embroidered and wore them on hats or sweaters. Ever now and again someone would stop me and ask me about it and ask whats the Turtles name. I never had a name for the turtle until this year.
Earlier this year my niece was involved in a very bad car accident and was facing a major lifestyle change due to her injuries. I felt absolutely helpless and wanted to do anything I could to keep her spirits up and support her. But about 3 or 4 weeks following her accident I was scheduled to travel with my wife to her new military duty station. She told me she understood and that she would be fine. While I was away I talked to her everyday. But inside it didn't feel like enough for me so one morning about 4 or 5 am I woke up and an idea came to me. I decided to name the Turtle Tay after my neice and a story just poured out of me. Over the next month I illustrated the story with hopes of printing it for her to read when I went back home. She absolutely loved the story and could not believe I named the the Turtle Tay.
So now I would like to share the story of Tay the Turtle and my outlook on life with everyone. I hope that my story will assist with all readers mental fitness. Becuase My outlook on life is no matter what is going on if I keep moving forward and maintain a positive outlook things will get better so "I'm Good".
